Franklin Town Board – January 2, 2018

The regular monthly meeting of the Franklin Town Board was called to order at 7:35 P.M. Present were Jeff Taggart, Garret Sitts, David Grant Donnie Smith Dwight Bruno, Mark Liang, Paul Warner. Also present were Mike Wallace, Roger Reed, Pete Nero, Robert Eggler, Mary Burns and Tony Breuer.

The minutes were read from the December 5,2017 meeting. Garret Sitts made a motion to accept the minutes as read. David Grant seconded the motion and all agreed.

Dwight Bruno made a motion for a resolution to approve the September 2017 audit for the Unified Court System. Donnie Smith seconded the motion and all agreed.

The town needs to get a new 10 ft. plow. Mark got a quote from M&C Truck Equipment for $4250.00. Garret made a motion to purchase the plow from M&C Truck Equipment for $4250.00. David seconded the motion and all agreed. All of the CHIPS money has arrived. Wayne Reynolds will be present at the February 6th meeting to discuss road abandonment protocol. The 1999 10-wheeler has some frame issues. The highway dept. would like to look into buying the 2015 Kobelco excavator. They have been renting it since May and the rent money can be put toward purchasing this machine. The purchase price is now down to $83,000.00.

Bob Eggler is concerns about the library. Could the town look into bio-diesel fuel for their trucks? Mark does not think it would work well especially in the winter. Cold temperature is a real issue.

Jim Basile gave a presentation on assessments. He hopes to have a better idea next month what change there may be to the 2019 taxes.

With nothing further to come before the Board, David made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 P.M. Garret seconded the motion and all present agreed.
